FAQs

Before contacting us with questions, please read this F.A.Q. page and please read the Submissions page thoroughly.

What is Rap Fest? - Rap Fest is an all day evangelistic outreach event held in the streets within an urban community. It's more than just a concert. It's a time of bringing forth God's Word to the ears and hearts of young people using hip hop as a tool.

Who puts this together? - Rap Fest, Inc. is a ministry that focuses on preparing all aspects of each Rap Fest event presented here on rapfestinc.com. Our host churches in the past has been Salem Temple and Resurrection Christian Church. This year The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, an organization serving over 12,000 youth, has opened it's doors to Rap Fest. Rap Fest 2007 will proudly hold it's event on Randall Avenue and White Plains Road in the Bronx - The Site of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.

How can my church host a Rap Fest? If you are seriously interested in hosting a future Rap Fest, Inc. event, contact Bert Bocachica via e mail at rapfestinc@yahoo.com.

Rap Fest 2007 will be outdoors. What if it rains? -  Rap Fest 2007 is on "Rain or Shine". There is too much preparation and travel involved to schedule a rain date. Should it happen to be raining the morning of Rap Fest, there are plans in place to take the event indoors courtesy of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club. Take note of the indoor events surrounding Rap Fest week as well which are listed on our main page .

I own a Christian company and want to have a vendor booth. Where do I apply? - Click here.

Is Rap Fest still accepting submissions and can we send an EPK? - Submission deadline for Rap Fest 2007 March 30, 2007. No exceptions. Submissions must be received on or before the deadline date.

When will I know if my ministry is selected to participate? - All ministries selected will be contacted personally by the Rap Fest, Inc. staff after all submissions have been reviewed..

What if we are not selected; will we be advised? - If you submitted your package as an EPK through Sonicbids, we will definitely respond accordingly. Fortunately, we receive a large amount of submissions each year via postal mail as well. In years past we have not been able to contact everyone that was not accepted as it would take much too much time for us to contact all of the ministries that were not selected. If you don't get an email or phone call telling you that your ministry was selected, chances are you were not selected. You can send us an e mail to rapfestinc@yahoo.com inquiring about the status of your submission.

Did you receive the package I sent?  If you addressed your package as instructed in the submissions guidelines and placed the proper postage on it ... we should have received it.

I have rapped at a Salem Coffee House and/or a past Rap Fest; do I still have to submit a package? - Rap Fest staff needs to be advised of your interest in being a participant in the upcoming Rap Fest 2007 event. Submissions must be submitted for each ministry wanting to participate.

Though you may not be required to submit all of the requested materials because we still might have your recent submission on file, it is important that you contact us at rapfestinc@yahoo.com to discuss your submission. (Helpful tip: Rapping at a previous Rap Fest or Coffee House does not constitute automatic participation in a current Rap Fest).

If we are selected, will you make all of the arrangements for us as far as travel, room and board? At this time, Rap Fest is not at a position (staff/monetary) to provide this service. Please keep us in prayer regarding this as we would LOVE to be able to provide travel, room and board to every artist. In the meantime please ensure that your record labels, management team, promoters or yourself, make the proper travel arrangements to and from RF07. Hey, if you know of people willing to sponsor Rap Fest.. tell them to contact us.. for sure.

We have our own sound crew, which travels with us and our own microphones, will we be able to use them for this event?
- No. Rap Fest hires a professional sound crew. We will provide the best possible sound to accommodate all ministries.

There are 3 other people that will be traveling with us and rapping on our set, what should we do?
- Rap Fest reserves the right to deny anyone, without prior confirmation, access to participate on stage. Confirmation must come through the Rap Fest staff. Should you know in advance who is going to be on stage with you we ask that you submit a full bio of them as well. We prefer this is submitted to us at the time of your submission as if they were a group member.

I spoke to someone about rapping at Rap Fest and they told me that I could. Is it really that simple? - No. All ministries are required to go through the required submission and selection process and must be confirmed, exclusively, by the Rap Fest coordinators. No one else has the authority to confirm groups for Rap Fest event.

I thought I was confirmed but I didn't see my name on the confirmed artists' list on the website. Am I confirmed? - No. If your name is not on the FINAL list it is because you were not confirmed. However, if you believe that this is an error, please contact us at rapfestinc@yahoo.com and we will review the situation.

I forgot to tell you that we have a DJ that will be spinning on our set, is that a problem? - Rap Fest reserves the right to deny anyone, without prior confirmation, access to participate on stage. Confirmation must come through the Rap Fest staff. Should you know in advance who is going to be on stage with you (including a deejay) we ask that you submit a full bio of them as well, as if they were a part of your group. DeeJays have a few extra guidelines and instructions which they should be aware of that will be made clear to them at the appropriate time.

Is it possible to get extra space for our product sale? - We are revisiting this aspect of Rap Fest on a daily basis to make it the best possible merchant outlet. We do our best to give all ministries the same amount of space. More details to follow on this topic in the very near future. In the meantime, everyone gets space according to whatever we have available. Vendors pay for a space and therefore get a slightly bigger space allocated them.

We have a video crew which needs a direct feed from the board and also access to the stage... Is that ok? - Not that easy. All video crews requiring more that just a shoulder to put their camera on should contact us at info@rapfest2000.com to discuss the details.

How do we get a press pass? - To receive a press pass all you have to do is show up and fill out a press pass request and release form. Have all of your proper press ID and station /news /magazine info readily available for verification.

You are requesting a lot from us for a free event. Why? - Salvation is free, but there is a high price to pay to bring forth a high quality event. We will do whatever it takes to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ properly and effectively in our community. (Local and Worldwide via the Internet)

I have other questions, which are not addressed in the Submissions page or the F.A.Q.’s page, who should I contact regarding them? - Please send all of your additional questions to info@rapfest2000.com and allow reasonable time for your inquiry to be answered.

Thanks and God Bless You
